Bad Health Effects of Candle Smoke Emissions: Cancer, Asthma, Allergies

Bad Health Effects of Candle Smoke Emissions: Cancer, Asthma, Allergies. Burning paraffin-based candles to light up your dinners may be romantic but a study suggests that doing it often and in an unventilated space can be dangerous to your health. The study, by researchers from the South Carolina State University, found that regular use of paraffin candles in unventilated rooms can cause allergies, asthma and even cancer.

During the study, the researchers burned paraffin-candles – the most common and cheapest kind of candle wax – in a small chamber for around five hours. The chemicals released by the candle were soaked up by charcoal which, when analyzed using a spectrogram, was found to contain toluene and benzene. Toluene can cause dizziness while benzene is a carcinogen which is also found in tobacco smoke.

Vitamin E Side Effects: Does it Increase the Risk of Stroke?

Vitamin E Side Effects: Does it Increase the Risk of Stroke? There’s some good news and bad news for those of you who are taking vitamin E? The bad news is that it can increase your risk of suffering from haemorrhagic stroke or bleeding in the brain. And the good news? The same vitamin can reduce your risk of having ischaemic stroke or that kind of stroke where a blood clot prevents blood from reaching your brain.

Researchers from the Harvard Medical School (Boston) and INSERM (Paris) arrived at the above findings after analyzing data from nine previous trials which covered nearly 119,000 people. The study, recently published in the British Medical Journal, found that vitamin E ups the risk of extra haemorrhagic strokes by 22% but, on the other hand, it lowers the risk of ischaemic strokes by 10%.

Stem Cell Treatment for Stroke Patients: ReNeuron and U Glasgow Trial

Stem Cell Treatment for Stroke Patients: ReNeuron and University of Glasgow Trial. Can stem cell therapy help stroke patients recover? Baking Soda Teeth Whitener: Safe or Very Bad for Your Enamel?

Baking Soda Teeth Whitener: Safe or Very Bad for Your Enamel? When you brush your teeth with baking soda, you are dissolving your teeth enamel. So instead of flashing your pearly whites, you will eventually end up with darker teeth.

Professor Andrew Eder, clinical director of the London Tooth Wear Centre, warns of the dangers of using DIY (do it yourself) teeth whitening products. “Household baking soda is an abrasive, so that with repeated use the white enamel may be worn away and leave teeth browner and with increased sensitivity. Salt crystals will scratch the enamel. Any treatment involving acid is particularly harmful,” he tells the Daily Mail.

Scrotal Hyperthermia: Hot Laptops Causes Infertility?

Scrotal Hyperthermia: Hot Laptops Causes Infertility? Hey guys, just because laptops are called laptops doesn’t mean that you should place them on your laps. As we said in “Bad Effects of Laptops”, using your computer in this manner can give you what scientists call the Toasted Skin Syndrome.

But here’s another reason why men — girls get a pass on this one — should avoid placing hot laptops on their lap area: overheated laptops can, to use the words of a Reuters news report, cook your testicles. Well, if you want some fried testicles to serve for breakfast then go ahead and heat ’em with your computer. We’re pretty sure Dr. Hannibal Lecter will approve.

Duro Extend Capsules for Men Side Effects: Good, Bad, or Dangerous?

Guys who are using Duro Extend Capsules for Men are being advised by the Food and Drug Administration to dump the drug because of its potentially dangerous side effects.

Why? According to the agency, Duro Extend Capsules — marketed as a “dietary supplement” as well as a “male enhancer” — contain an undeclared drug ingredient which could lower your blood pressure to dangerous levels.

From the FDA safety alert: “Lab analysis has found Duro Extend Capsules for Men to contain Sulfoaidenafil, an analogue of Sildenafil, an FDA-approved drug used as treatment for male Erectile Dysfunction, making the product an unapproved drug. The analogue may interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs (such as nitroglycerin) and may lower blood pressure to dangerous levels. Consumers with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or heart disease often take nitrates.”
