Botox Migraine Treatment: What are It’s Side Effects. Can Botox cure migraine? Apparently, it does. The cosmetic “miracle drug” recently gained the approval of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as a cure for chronic migraine headaches.

However, we should take note that it’s only approved for migraines that occur for more than 14 days per month. If your migraine happens for days lesser than that, then botox is not for you.

From the FDA media release:

To treat chronic migraines, Botox is given approximately every 12 weeks as multiple injections around the head and neck to try to dull future headache symptoms. Botox has not been shown to work for the treatment of migraine headaches that occur 14 days or less per month, or for other forms of headache. It is important that patients discuss with their physician whether Botox is appropriate for them.

What are the possible side effects if you use botox to treat your migraine?

According to the FDA, “the most common adverse reactions reported by patients being treated for chronic migraine were neck pain and headache.”

What the …? So you wanna get rid of your migraine headaches by having yourself treated with a drug that can give you headache? Weird!
