Al Amal Stem Cell Treatment Center To Be Established. The Al Amal Hospital in Doha, Qatar is setting up a stem cell transplant unit according to a report by The Peninsula. The center is expected to be established by the end of the year.

It is expected to “provide optimal care to patients in need of advanced techno-therapy and are unable to afford treatment abroad” according to a source at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC).

A stem cell laboratory, the first of its kind in the region, will also be put up. It is expected to provide services for tissue matching, microbiology, blood and immune diseases, chemistry and blood bank.

According to The Peninsula report (quoting the Al Sharq Daily), around 30 stem cells transplant operations per year are expected to be performed in the hospital during its first year.

The stem cells will come from blood components or bone marrow at the hospital.
