A popular hair-straightening treatment is under scrutiny after lab tests by Oregon’s occupational health agency found significant levels of formaldehyde in a smoothing solution made by the beauty company Brazilian Blowout.

Is hair cloning the next big thing in man’s eternal quest to keep his head covered with hair? A leading hair specialist thinks so.
Tulane University’s Dr. Nicole Rogers says cloning would be a wonderful complement to hair transplantation procedures. She says in the Modern Medicine: “It would be great if we could harvest a single hair from the back (of the head) and create thousands of copycat hairs from that. There is significant research ongoing in that area, but we are not there yet. It’s still going to be a while before it is ready for Food and Drug Administration approval.”
Meanwhile, other researchers believe that even if cloning will be totally developed, they will still be facing challenges in controlling the caliber and angle of hair growth. They say they should also investigate if cloning will not trigger any skin cancer.

Botox Can Cure Baldness? Dr. Simon Ourian Says “Yes!”. A cosmetic surgeon based in Beverly Hills, California was surprised when, after treating his bald mother’s migraines with Botox, her hair appears to have grown back.
After the discovery, Dr. Simon Ourian injected Botox with a mixture of vitamins on volunteers for three years and found out that Botox can really cure baldness. From his experience with his mother, Ourian said he had been sharing the discovery to his regular patients.
“I was happily surprised by the result,” he said. “So I decided to share the discovery with several of my regular patients. Because hair loss is a significant source of insecurity for many people, both men and women, there was no shortage of volunteers with thinning hair.”
